No it's not an April Fools Joke

Wool or Copper or a fancy shmancy desk set

March 26, 2017 - 7:22 pm

This April 1st will be the 7 year Anniversary of the Morning News with Webster & Nancy.  The Hallmark website says 7 years is the wool or copper anniversary or the modern gift is a desk set.  Copper pliers come to mind, as one of our listeners likes to text us repeatedly about copper pliers. Don't ask me why, I can't even remember how it started.

A few weeks before that day in 2010, I was waiting in my car in the parking lot near Panera. (Was it Panera John?  Another detail I think I remember)  I was about to talk with John about our station, and the morning show, to see where this whole thing was going.  What he didn't know is that I was anxiously awaiting the results of a cancer antigen test.  Back then I was still seeing an oncologist following breast cancer treatment in 2007.  With each follow up I'd get a physical exam, as well as blood tests to see if there was any indication that the cancer had come back. I'd get the results in an email a few days after the appointment.  That day, I saw the email notification as I waited in the car.  Should I open it, or wait until after?  My curiosity got the best of me and I was thrilled to get another all clear from the Dr.  It was a very good day.

The day it was announced that the local classic rock legend was coming to WILK happened to be April Fools Day.  Joe Thomas (who the hell is Joe Thomas!) and I took calls that day, as listeners either celebrated the move, or were skeptical and thought it was some elaborate prank.  It took a little while for John to actually join us on the air, as there was a bit of a court battle regarding when he could and what name he would use.  That's a story within itself and one that only Webster can tell.

So here we are 7 years later. We talk politics and local news, we talk about toilets, little blue pills, C-pap machines and sometimes we manage to not butcher sports. Thank you for being with us for 7 years, or picking us up along your way.  I wouldn't be sleep-deprived for anyone else.
