Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority Hires Law Firm to Review Stormwater Fee

January 11, 2019 - 5:14 pm

The Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority has announced it has hired a local law firm to explore legal options that could reduce or eliminate a new stormwater fee in 32 municipalities.
The authority says it can’t provide specifics on what action may be pursued and said it does not know if residential customers who already received their new stormwater bills will still be required to pay at this time.

The announcement follows a closed-door executive session this morning when it was decided to hire a local law firm to review the fee.

Authority officials say the review is due to the strong reaction from rate payers against the stormwater fee.

The authority's next public meeting is set for  Tuesday at 5:30 at its headquarters in Hanover Township.
