Scranton School Board Meets Tonight

Public input session at 7pm

December 18, 2017 - 9:48 am

After last week's announcement by the Scranton School Board of proposed teacher layoffs they meet again tonight,  and tonight the public will have their opportunity to weigh in on the proposal. District officials say they need 19 million dollars to close the budget gap for 2018. Laying off close to 90 teachers would mean teachers responsible for subjects like art, gym and music could be let go and the classes would fall to regular elementary teachers. Other layoffs would include library, industrial arts and family and consumer sciences and 10 special education teachers. Tonight's meeting is at 7pm in the auditorium of South Scranton Intermediate School.
