Wilkes-Barre 2021 Budget: Good, No Tax Increases. Bad, Recycling and Sewage Fees To Double

October 15, 2020 - 3:29 pm

Wilkes-Barre Mayor George Brown has presented his 2021 budget and it does not include any tax increases, but it does includes the doubling of recycling and sewage fees.

The recycling fee would jump from $50 to $100 annually, and the residential sewage transmission fee also would increase by $50 if the city council approves the mayor's budget proposal..

The fee increases will generate an additional $2 million in revenue to balance the $53 point 2 million dollar spending plan.
City council will now look over the proposed budget and schedule a public hearing on it.
