UGI Asks PUC for Natural Gas Rate Hike

If you heat your home with natural gas from UGI get ready to pay more. The company has filed a request with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to increase natural gas rates for residential, commercial and industrial customers by more than 74-million dollars year.

If approved, the total bill for the average home heating customer would increase by more than ten percent to more than 90-dollars a month.

UGI says the increase would recover UGI’s ongoing costs for system improvements to maintain safe and reliable natural gas service.

The company is asking for the rate increase to begin March 28th but company officals say the PUC typically suspends the effective date for hearings and investigation meaning the rate increases would be postponed until October.
