November 07, 2019 - 2:41 pm

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections has announced it will hold a public hearing on the proposed closure of SCI Retreat.

The hearing is set for 5:30 p.m. November 21st at the Nanticoke Municipal Building.
The hearing is required by law. Legislators, public officials and the public will be able to speak at the hearing.

It comes after Department of Corrections  Secretary John Wetzel was removed from the decision-making process after open microphone comments he made surfaced from a recent hearing about the proposed closure of the prison.

The state announced the proposed closure of the prison in August.
