Luzerne County Plant to Close 180 Jobs Lost

About 180 people will be out of work in February when a Luzerne County plant closes.

Valmont Newmark, which manufactures large steel poles for the utility market, has announced it is closing its facility in the former Dorr-Oliver plant in Hazleton Heights .

The company says the final day for employees will be February 22nd with “Final closure set for mid-2019.

Officials say the plant is closing because the company has determined it can best serve its market in the Northeastern United States with other manufacturing facilities.
