Skeletal remains on riverbank identified as missing canoeist
MOUNT BETHEL, Pa. (AP) — Skeletal remains found on the bank of the Delaware River in eastern Pennsylvania have been identified as those of a New Jersey canoeist missing since last summer.
The (Allentown) Morning Call reports that the Northampton County coroner's office said 53-year-old Feng Ye of Scotch Plains, New Jersey, died of drowning and the manner of death was ruled accidental.
Ye disappeared Aug. 2 when a boat capsized, spilling him, his wife and his 20-year-old son into the river near Portland. The younger man helped his mother to shore, but he told rescuers that when he returned to help his father, he had slipped below the water. Rescue crews searched for several days. A fisherman found the remains Nov. 28 on the riverbank.
